Something that caught my eye was when I was reading the difference between the paper copies like a book, newspaper, or text. The other was media, so a computer, phone, or tablet. There is a big difference in the two of these forms of reading. The reason why this idea caught my eye was because we talked about this a little bit in class as well, and as we talked about that, it kept getting my attention more and more. I was very engaged when we were having a class so I thought it would be fun to look at it some more. When I was reading “imagining the blogosphere” I think that reading on media vs reading on paper text, has the same type of interest and knowledge to me. When I am reading on paper, I feel like I am more focused, I can contribute myself and my whole brain to just go straight to what I am reading. I don’t really doze off, or think of other things because it’s just me and the paper. When I am reading something online, I tend to get distracted. By getting distracted, I mean, maybe a text or a snap chat comes through, so I click over and reply to that but once I’m done replying, I go back to the article and I’m lost. I don’t know where I am, or what I was talking about and then when that happens I lose interest in the article. But there are times when it works to my advantage very well! When I get going on a topic that interests me a lot, I love having the internet directly right there. When I am learning something new or maybe don’t know something I can click over to google it. I can just go to the topic, get the information, and go back to the topic. By doing that, I’m staying all on the same topic, but just learning more which makes me more interested. Aslo, when you write a text, there’s many papers of rough drafts that you have to go through to get your final project. You have to have people look over it multiple times to make sure your spelling, grammar, and writing is perfect. That is very time consuming. Yes, I understand that it’s probably the better way to do it because it is making us think about how to spell that word, we have to think a little harder to make sure our paper is good. When you have media, such as writing on a computer, you have so many tools to help you. You have spell check, grammarly, and so many other apps to critique your paper as you write so as you write it, it’s critiquing it. That way when you’re done, you may have just a couple people look over it, but you can publish it almost immediately after you write it.

Reading like a writer
I never really realized the different types of writing and all the other work put into it. I always thought there were many types of reading for example; people who are slow at reading, people who are slow at comprehending things, and people who are good etc. When I was reading this article it really jumped out at me now reading like a writer makes you become a better reader. And when I really focused in on it it made sense. It was stated in the article “When you read like a writer, you are trying to figure out how the text you are reading was constructed so that you learn how to “build” one for yourself.” To put this in my words, I would say that you are trying to understand how the author wrote it, what he or she is talking about, or maybe how they are thinking, and then you take they’re knowledge of the way they wrote it and put a story of your own into place of how there’s went. When you start to read, you have to examine it carefully. You have to look at everything that goes into the work, for example maybe there are facts in the story. You have to really pay attention to if those facts are right. Anyone can make up a story with bogus facts and call it work. But when you examine the article and focus on everything, you know you are reading like a writer. When I first started to read about “reading like a writer” I couldn’t really grasp the knowledge. I didn’t understand what the author was saying, it’s almost like I needed it dumbed down because there were so many facts and so much about the article and all the little details that I couldn’t grasp all the knowledge. And then it hit me, I wasn’t reading like a writer and this is exactly what they’re talking about. So I went back and I reread the parts I didn’t understand and I began to understand. I understood how to read like a writer, I needed to pick up the little pieces that put the story together. And that’s how I was able to read like a writer just by reading this article. Even though you may not get assigned to do this much work for a reading assignment, it will only better your reading progress. When you read like a writer your able to understand the words a lot better, which makes you able to understand the content and what they are trying to get across. Like I said, even if your teacher doesn’t assign you to do this much work, it will never hurt to go above and beyond to better yourself.
License
For my license I picked copyright. The reason why I picked this was because I think it is easier for me to understand. I’m still getting use to using this website, so if someone wants to use my information they have to ask me. Instead of just being able to take it without me knowing, I will now know because they will ask me before hand.
Setting up
I think it was pretty easy to set my blog up. I just followed the steps and I understood how to do it. It was a little confusing at first because I didn’t know the layout and where to find everything. To handle that, I just played around for a little bit without setting it up just to see where everything was and how the layout was. Once I was able to figure everything out, I started setting up. My favorite part was being able to design it and picking the theme I liked the most. Once I picked that, it felt like I was able to view the site a little better because it felt like mine.
Introduction
Hi, my name is Hailey Ray. I am currently taking four classes at RCTC. I live in west concord, a small town about 45 minutes from here. I recently moved out of my parents house and I live with my boyfriend, my friend, and her boyfriend. It was quite of an adjustment moving into town because I have always lived in the country. The hardest adjustment I think is having to deal with the lights in town. For most people it’s normal and they don’t realize them, but I’m use to it always being dark at night. I am hoping to save some money so we can eventually buy our own house in the spring. I work at an early childhood center called First Steps. I am a preschool teacher and I love every minute of my job. I work full time, so going to school and working, gets to be a lot. Even though I get stressed, I love to come home to my sweet little pup, Josie.
